At Bethel Interiors, we believe that a beautifully designed space isn't just about what you see — it's about what you feel. And sometimes, the warmest feeling in a home comes not from furniture or color palettes, but from the comforting scent of something sweet baking in the oven. I remember coming home from school to the smell of chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven. There's nothing else that truly screams comfort like a batch of cookies baking while I turn on my favorite show after a long day at school.

Today, we’re sharing one of our favorite treats to make a house feel like home: classic chocolate chip cookies — crisp at the edges, soft in the center, and rich with chocolate.

Whether you're hosting guests in your newly styled living room or enjoying a quiet afternoon in a sun-filled kitchen nook, these cookies are the perfect complement to your space.

🍪 Classic Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature

  • 1 cup granulated white sugar

  • 1 cup firmly packed light or dark brown sugar

  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 cups Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips

  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.

  3. In a large bowl, beat the butter and both sugars using an electric mixer at medium speed until the mixture is creamy and lightened in color (about 4 minutes).

  4. Add the vanilla and eggs (one at a time), mixing on low speed until fully incorporated.

  5. Gradually blend in the flour mixture until well combined.

  6. Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using.

  7. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets, about 2 inches apart.

  8. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, until golden brown.

  9. Transfer to wire racks to cool. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.

Design Tip!

Freshly baked cookies do more than satisfy a sweet tooth — they instantly enhance your home’s ambiance. The aroma alone creates a feeling of warmth and welcome that no candle can quite replicate. Try placing a batch in a beautiful ceramic dish as part of your coffee table styling — your guests will thank you.

From your kitchen to your living room, it’s the little touches that make a house feel like a home. Happy baking — and designing!
